In The Netherlands, Aon employs some 1,800 people, across its three main business lines.For Aon's Legal Department EMEA in Rotterdam (7 lawyers and paralegals), we are looking to recruit a corporate legal counsel, in the position of Senior Counsel.

The Position

Primarily you will be responsible for the management of the corporate secretarial and governance-related activities of the international Aon entities (outside the Americas). Many of these entities are, directly or indirectly, owned by Dutch holding companies. Your responsibilities will include corporate restructurings, internal mergers, intercompany loans, guarantees, filings, shareholders/board resolutions, and the drafting and implementation of governance guidelines. In addition, you will have an advisory role on corporate legal matters and you will be engaged in drafting and implementing agreements between members of the Aon network. Depending on your background and experience, you may be involved in transactional work including mergers and acquisitions. For the Aon business operations, you will be a central point of contact in your capacity as representative of their shareholder, and more generally as a corporate legal advisor. You will be working in close collaboration with several departments, such as Tax, Treasury and Finance. You will report to the Chief Corporate Counsel, EMEA.

The Profile

7 to 9 years experience in the international corporate legal practice, preferably gained both in private practice and in a multinational company;
Trained at a leading law firm in the Netherlands;
Substantial corporate secretarial experience and affinity with "technical" corporate law and governance issues;
General experience on corporate advisory issues and transactions
Able to set up and manage projects and systems effectively and independently;
Solid and open personality; able to liaise with executives at all levels in the organization; excellent personal skills.
Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken.
