Our Client

Match Maker Associates is a well known and highly valued consultancy firm in the East African development sector. It is owned by 2 Tanzanian and 1 Dutch consultancy professionals. Services are value chain analysis, feasibility studies, market studies, financial brokerage etc. Target groups are mostly farmer cooperatives and fishermen cooperatives and clients are local and international NGOs. Recently, another expert has worked with Match Maker Assiociates via SharePeople, he co-developed a private equity fund to invest in social value chains. It provides critical finance to small and medium enterprises who source from smallholder farmers, fishermen, etc. In other words: MMA is providing credit for small and medium enterprises who have a pro-poor impact. This is credit which is in between criteria from micro-credit and commercial banks. Credit for pro-poor value chains is often costly because of the transaction costs (rural areas), start up costs before aquiring economies of scale, etc. The social impact of MatchMaker is: - local employment and/or income generation - community involvement - transfer of knowledge and skills

The Position

Together with the manager of the pro-poor private equity fund you will help the fund become operational thanks to your legal counseling. The fund is set up in the Netherlands so your Dutch legal knowledge would be applicable. The fund is managed by MMA in Tanzania and the impact of the investments are for Tanzania small and medium enterprises, therefore your assignment is in Arusha.Your key deliverables will be:legal advice for this fund check of the final prospectus, legal paragraphs and selling restrictions per country set up legal business venture; a so called "limited partnership" contract set up an application form to participate in this limited partnership development of standard loan agreement

The Profile

Match Maker Associates is looking for a legal expert wich is able to advise the fund on legal operations. MMA would like you to be available for a period of 2-4 weeks as soon as possible. Also, to participate in an Expert Programme you need to have: - at least five years of relevant working experience - at least finished an HBO-education or have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree

The Rewards

CostsFor participating in this programme you will not receive a salary. However, the local organisation arranges and pays for your accommodation and meals. International travelling expenses are to be paid by the participant. Additionally, SharePeople charges you a fee.
