Fonterra Europe, headquartered in Amsterdam, is a Business-to-Business (B2B) sales and marketing organization that sells a full range of dairy products and solutions, from commodities to 'value added' and specialty ingredients. It encompasses a large and diverse market area, including the 27 members of the European Union, Russia, and other non-EU countries in the region north of the Mediterranean and East of Russia.On behalf of our client we are seeking to recruit a Legal & Compliance Manager (0,6 FTE).

The Position

The purpose of the Legal & ComplianceManager is to provide Fonterra (Europe) with legal counsel on legal and business decisions, ensuring compliance with laws, Fonterra policies and the Fonterra Code of Conduct. This includes (amongst others):

Being the legal counsel and advisor on key new Fonterra Europe commercial initiatives (including M&A, joint venture and material supply and manufacturing relationships);
Providing legal input into and assisting in the planning and execution of these initiatives;
Negotiating and monitoring all commercial contracts;
Managing the compliance processes internally ensuring compliance with all European laws and regulations and Fonterra policies (excluding food law).This role is a relatively new role, as the current work has been managed by several people/roles. In this role you will be part of the European team helping to implement key commercial initiatives of the Fonterra Europe business and will be at the same time a member of the legal team that is based in Auckland. You will report to the Senior Corporate Counsel/General Counsel - Fonterra Global Ingredients and Foodservices that is based in Auckland, New Zealand, with a dotted reporting line to the Fonterra Euorope Finance Director based in Amsterdam. You will work closely with all other functional leaders and teams within the Fonterra Europe business.

The Profile

At least 8 years experience as a lawyer including in-house counsel experience within an international corporate and commercial environment;
Senior level experience in drafting and negotiating corporate and commercial agreements and (some) knowledge of IP and competition law;
Some ability to implement compliance programmes appropriate for the scale of the business;
Addional Food industry experience (such as awareness of operational issues and legal risks associated with a global food industry business) will be appreciated;
The ability and personality to perform by Fonterra's company ethics and values;
Fluent in English and good in Dutch.
